A Young Girl . . .

RRRing...! RRRing...! RRRing!...

I reached for the phone in a sleepy daze. "Hello... this is Morningstar Fellowship. Can I help you?" I said, looking at the clock. It was 3:00 a.m.

"Is this Red?" asked a tentative young girl's voice.

"Yes it is... What's Happening?" I answered.

"I got your number from a street ministry in L.A. Red, I've just been beat up... my roommate has split with all my money, and now I'm out in the street. I need help!... Please!!!... Can you help me?"

I quietly prayed for a moment... "Father, I see the fear... her hurt... and the pain. Lord, help me to be sensitive to your spirit... and give me wisdom..."

"Sure," I said. "Where are you?"

She told me and apologized, saying, "Sorry that I'm calling so late."

"That's o.k.," I said. "I'll be right there!... and hey!!! Everything is going to be all right... you hear me?... God's got everything under control. You just try to relax, and I'll be there in about ten minutes. O.k.? Everything is going to be o.k."

I jumped off the "Astor", (the yacht that was our base of operation in Honolulu, Hawaii), hopped into the truck, praying that the Lord would prepare the way, and give me something special to minister to this desperate girl.

So started a short but intense relationship with a 16-year-old who had been involved in prostitution for four years. She had spent most of her life in foster homes until the Lord led her to a home in Hollywood that turns "Ladies of the Night" into "Ladies of the Light." The state said she was too young to stay at the ministry in Los Angeles... so she came to Hawaii to start a new life... alone.

She was a pretty girl... a real sweetheart,,, and when we looked at her, our hearts were broken, realizing this girl who had her whole life ahead of her... had already been marred with four years of prostitution. It was evident that she was either possessed or oppressed by bad spirits.

Sometimes when Red would minister the Word to her, sometimes her face would get hard and an evil, crafty, look would be in her eyes. She would start to laugh... an evil laugh. Red would rebuke these spirits... and they would go. Through much love, prayer, and counseling, an inner healing began in her. There was new light in her face. As she began to grow, we placed her in a home for Christian women.
